At 7 weeks, wasting of the rhomboid muscles can already be detected in presymtomatic mice as they move on a cage grid. Note the large gap (orange arrow) between scapulas (where rhomboids normally maintain scapulas attached to the dorsal spine), not visible in the corresponding position in the wild-type (WT) littermate.
