Caption | Gross anatomy of epididymal white adipose tissue (WAT) from age and weight matched wild-type (WT) and Tg(Fabp4-LMNA*R482Q)11ACdl/0 mice. Hemotoxylin and eosin stained sections of epididymal WAT from WT (D) and transgenic (E) mice. (F) Gross anatomy of brown adipose tissue (BAT) from WT (bottom) and transgenic (top) mice. Hemotoxylin and eosin stained sections of BAT from WT (G) and transgenic (H) mice. Gross examination of both WAT and BAT revealed a marked reduction in epididymal white fat pads (C) and a severe reduction ofbrown subscapular fat pads (F). Histological examination of epididymal WAT from transgenic mice (E) showed less uniformity in cell size compared with WT (D), ranging from hypertrophic to miniscule. In addition, the stroma of epididymal WAT showed significant leukocyte infiltration, indicating an increase in inflammatory processes in transgenic mice. BAT from transgenic animals exhibited significantly enlarged lipid droplets with unilocular versus multilocular deposition (H). This is in contrast to WT animals, which showed a strongly uniform distribution of multilocular lipid droplets (G). | ||||
