Sgpp2^tm1Rlp/Sgpp2^tm1Rlp (Sgpp2-/-) mice at 4 days after birth showed normal skin appearance and morphology (middle mouse) similar to wild-type (WT) mice (mouse on the left). In contrast, Sgpp1^{tm1(KOMP)Vlcg}/Sgpp1^{tm1(KOMP)Vlcg} (Sgpp1-/-) mice (mouse on the right) displayed severe ichthyosis.
