Adult tail phenotypes of 5 kL (5kL-1/0: Tg(Lfng-LFNG)1Dihz/0 Lfng^tm1Rjo/Lfng^tm1Rjo, 5kL-2: Tg(Lfng-LFNG)2Dihz/? Lfng^tm1Rjo/Lfng^tm1Rjo) and BBL (BBL-1/BBL-1: Tg(Lfng*-LFNG)1Dihz/Tg(Lfng*-LFNG)1Dihz Lfng^tm1Rjo/Lfng^tm1Rjo) trasngenes and Hes7^tm1.1Dihz/Hes7^tm1.1Dihz (Hes7^BAP/BAP) knock-in mice. Transgenic mice of the 5 kL lines (without endogenous Lfng) resemble wild-type and heterozygous Lfng^tm1Rjo ( lfng^+/-) mutant mice; BBL lines (without endogenous Lfng) show a tail rescue of variable degree (A, arrowheads point at kinks). Heterozygous Hes7^tm1.1Dihz (Hes7^BAP/+) mice resemble wild-type; Hes7^tm1.1Dihz/Hes7^tm1.1Dihz mice have truncated, kinky tails (B).
