  • Experiment
Statistical analysis of 93 individual genotypes (up to 339 for select markers) from (AKR/J x C57L/J)F2 fat and lean pool mice indicated the presence of a QTL locus on mouse Chromosome 17 affecting the adiposity index. A LOD peak score of 4.6 occurred at a position 5 cM distal to D17Mit143. A broad 1-LOD support interval extended from the centromere to 2 cM distal to D17Mit173. Gene order and percentage of recombination between markers is reported as: D17Mit143 - 5.8 - D17Mit173 - 5.2 - D17Mit28 - 3.4 - D17Mit11 - 3.4 - D17Mit66 - D17Mit117 - 12.3 - D17Mit20. This QTL is reported to account for 6.1% of the phenotypic variance, and is demonstrated to affect males much more than females (LOD = 4.0 vs. LOD = 1.6 respectively.
