Notes
  • Experiment
Various backcross, congenic and subcongenic strains were developed between Mus musculus and M. spretus to further refine the genomic region responsible for X-linked hybrid placental dysplasia in mouse. The complex phenotype is symbolized as Ihpd. Interestingly the authors were able to show that the degree of placental dysplasia was correlated with the size of the spretus interval congenic with Mus musculus. However, due to male hybrid sterity only heteozygous mice were informative. The results presented by the authors suggest that many genes from spretus may act synergistically to create hybrid placental dysplasia.
