  Eye weight differs significantly between inbred strains C57BL/6J and DBA/2J. Eye weight was measured in the 26 strains in the BXD (C57BL/6J x DBA/2J) RI line. A major locus (Eye1) was found to map to mouse Chromosome 5. A QTL with a lesser effect (Eye2) was seen on mouse Chromosome 17 between Hba-ps4 and Crisp2. Phenotypic analysis of F2 mice derived from (C57BL/6J x DBA/2J) mice verified the Chromosome 17 location of Eye2 specifically to a region on mouse Chromosome 17 between 10 cM and 16 cM.
