  In humans IRE1 and PLK are arranged in a tail to tail orientation on human Chromosome 16. Mouse Chromosome 7 genomic PAC clones that contained the Ire1 locus were shown to hybridize to Plk cDNA suggesting that the mouse and human genes are arranged similarly.
