Notes
  • Experiment
Mice were selected for 53 generations for high and low fat content. High (F line) and Low (L line) mice were crossed creating F1 offspring that were mated to produce 436 F2 mice (233 females and 213 males). The F2 mice were genotyped for 71 MIT markers polymorphic in the progenitor strains to identify QTLs that contributed to the fat content phenotype. Fob2 as a QTL showed a significant peak LOD score of 3.2 at an approximate cM position of 19 on mouse Chromosome 12. Moreover Fob2 had a significant female effect at cM position 21 with a LOD of 3.9. Fob2 accounted for approximately 19.5 percent of the total fat variance across the F2 population explained by the QTL.
