Notes
  • Experiment
While analyzing the presence of a promoter switch affecting Xist transcription, the authors determined that the P0 promoter was dispensable for XIST expression. However, Xist analysis of this region between 6.636kb and 6.136kb upstream of the Xist P1 promoter revealed homology to the Rps12 cDNA. Additional studies suggested that this was a processed pseudogene. The order/orientation of genes in the 7kb region upstream of Xist on the mouse X Chromosome was: 3' - Rps12-ps1 - 5' - 3' Rps19X-ps1 - 5' - 5' - Xist - 3'.
