    Alan1 was initially identified using Recombinant Congenic strains CcS (STS/A x BALB/cHeA). Subsequent analysis of (CcS-5 x BALB/c) F2 hybrid mice was informative to map Alan1 with mouse Chromosome 17. This locus is responsible for the proliferative response to alloantigens in mixed lymphocyte cultures (MLC). Alan1 is independent of the H2 complex and showed a significant association with D17Mit30 and D17Mit51. The Range appears to be from D17Mit19 and D17Mit138.
