    The authors used a high resoution genetic cross, chromosome walking experiments and BAC sequencing to define a candidate interval of 295-570kb containing the Hm mutation. The order of markers around this interval were: D5Kng2 - Rnf32 - Lmbr1 - D5Kng3 - D5Kng1 - Hlxb9. The Lmbr1 and Lmbr2 genes maps within the critical interval defined for the mouse and human limb mutations. Expression studies have also shown misregulation of Lmbr1 gene expression in Hx mutant mice. Previous studies have shown tight linkage between the Hx and Hm mutations.
