Notes
  • Experiment
Authors fined mapped the fi mutation to a critical interval bounded by D2Mit326 and D2Mit124 after screening 2400 meiotic events in F2 progeny between STOCK-fidget and CAST/Ei. A YAC/BAC physical map of the region was constructed and a cDNA clone of interest was isolated. Mice with the f1 mutation had reduced levels of this mRNA. Subsequent analysis revealed a retro-transposon insertion into intron 2 of this gene that interfered with normal RNA processing. This gene was named fidgetin and given the symbol Fign.
