    The authors identified a phenotypic variation for mouse Chromosome 5 marker Abcb4 (alias mdr-3)in CF1 mutant mice versus the C57BL/6J wild type strain. Using PCR with sequencing strategies the authors attributed this mutation to an ecotropic viral insertion within intron 22 of Abcb4. The viral insertion is approximately 0.52 kb and leads to splicing variation in Abcb4.
