  Authors identified a muscle-specific transcription unit from the ky non-recombinant interval identified in J:52081. Expression of this gene was reduced in Ky/Ky mice. Sequence analysis of the gene in mutant mice revealed a deletion that resulted in an alteration of the reading frame leading to a premature stop codon. The absence of this deletion in other mouse strains was confirmed by sequencng.
