A Total number of 1258 (629 F2 mice) chromosomes were typed using a DNA mapping panel from an F2 intercross between 129P3/J and C57BL/6ByJ strains. The animals were produced from reciprocal outcrossing of 129P3/J females and C57BL/6ByJ males, or C57BL/6ByJ females and 129P3/J males. The following order of loci on mouse chromosome 4 was indicated: Centromere - D4Mit33 - 2.5 cM - D4Mit190 - 1.5 cM - D4Mit42 - 0.2 cM - Gpr70 - 1.1 cM - D4Mit254 - 0.8 cM - D4Mit209 - 3.2 cM - D4Mit256 - 2.6 cM - D18346 - Telomere. Authors use these data along with marker analysis in congenic 129.B6-Sac to show that the mouse Chromosome 4 locus Sac is not encoded by Gpr70. Moreover, mouse gene Tas1r1 is coded at Gpr70 locus.

The authors in a submission to MGI indicated the following:

NOTE discrepancies between the MGD map and panel data:
    a) Our data resolve positions of D4Mit33 and D4Mit190, both mapped to 79.0 cM by MGD.
    b) Our data place D4Mit209 more distal (between D4Mit254 and D4Mit256) compared with the MGD map (proximal to D4Mit42). Our data for D4Mit209 are also consistent with the MIT map.
