  The authors analyzed the 5' flanking sequence of the Adat1 gene and identified the presence of the Kars gene 1.1kb upstream from exon 1. The genes were arranged in a head to tail orientation. A similar arrangement is seen in the human genome with the intergenic distance of 5.5kb.
