    The authors identified a gene, Gsg2 in intron 26 of the Itgae gene on Chromosome 11. Gsg2 is transcribed in the opposite orientation to that of Itgae. This structure is conserved in the human genome as well. The transcription start for Gsg2 is less than 70 nucleotides from the 5' start site of an alternative transcript of the Itgae gene.
