125 radiation-induced lymphomas from (BALB/cHeA x MSM/Ms)F1 animals were screened for loss of heterozygosity (LOH) at 40 polymorphic loci on the mouse genome. The highest association with LOH (66%) is on distal mouse chromosome 12 at D12Mit279. This locus is syntenic to human chromosome 14q32.1, a region associated with LOH in a variety of human tumors. Fine mapping localized the smallest common region of deletion to an interval an 0.85 cM between D12Mit53 and D12Mit233. This locus was fine-mapped using 586 (CXSD x MSM/Ms)F2 animals. (CXSD, also called CXS4, is a recombinant inbred strain derived from BALB/cHeA and STS/A progenitors. Hilgers, J:8016) The order of the locus and distances between markers was determined to be: [centromere] - D12Mit132 - (0.34 cM) - D12Mit50 - (2.05 cM) - [D12Mit122,D12Mit53]-(0.85 cM)-D12Mit233 - (0.43 cM)-D12Mit279 - (0.17 cM) - D12Mit81 - [telomere]
