Notes
  • Experiment
112 DBA/2Ola x (DBA/2Ola x C57BL/6Ola)F1 backcross animals were typed for 21 microsatellite markers to identify QTLs associated with calcification of soft tissue (myocardium, kidney, and tongue). A major locus was mapped to Dyscalc1 on proximal mouse Chromosome 7 from 18 cM - 39 cM (LOD = 6.5 near D7Mit297). Female animals show higher association to soft tissue calcification and plasma parathyroid hormone levels than male animals at Dyscalc1. The authors suggest that the Hrc gene may be the gene responsible for soft tissue calcification at Dyscalc1.
