  Animals from a (ZRDCT x CAST/Ei)F2 population was used to map the eyeless mutation, ey1, to the Rax gene on mouse chromosome 18. Inbred strain ZRDCT is an eyeless mutant whereas inbred strain CAST/Ei has normal eyes. The order and distance of markers on mouse Chromosome 18 were determined as follows: centromere - D18Mit19 - 19.7 +/- 4.9 cM - D18Mit17 - 13.6 cM +/- 4.2 cM - D18Mit208 - 3 +/- 2.1 cM - Rax/ey1 - 1.5 +/- 1.5 cM - D18Mit184 - 13.6 cM +/- 4.2 cM - D18Mit142 - 9.1 cM +/- 3.5 cM - telomere.
