    119 polymorphic markers were screened in 633 (MRL/MpJ x SJL/J)F2 female animals to detect loci associated with femur breaking strength. 7-week old female animals were used for the study. Fembrs1 was identified on mouse Chromosome 2 with LOD = 3.6 at D2Mit62. MRL/MpJ-derived alleles confer increased bone strength with dominant inheritance at Fembrs1.
