  Females heterozygous for the ragged (Ra) mutation were crossed to male M. spretus, and F1 hybrid females were backcrossed to C3H/HeJ males to test for recombination between Sox18 and Ra. Out of 490 Ra/+ backcross animals no recombinants were identified, indicating very tight linkage between Sox18 and Ra.
