Notes
  • Experiment
The following mating was used to map mcub:female (cub/cub Mcub/ Mcub) were matted with a CAST/EiJ male (+/+ mcub/mcub) which produced F1 hybrids (cub/+ Mcub/mcub) that were then backcrossed with (cub/cub mcub/ mcub) mice. Mcub is located at 45 cM on mouse Chromosome 5. The authors provided a locus order with interlocus recombination distances (in cM) with their associated standard errors (in parentheses) as follows: centromere - D5Mit235 - 4.5 cM (1.5) - [D5Mit205, mcub] - 5.5 cM (1.6) - [D5Mit20, Fgf5] - 2.0 cM (1.0) - D5Mit9.

Potential candidate genes mapping near Mcub are Btc (51 cM), Areg (51 cM), Ereg, and Epgn.
