• Experiment
  Authors used PCR analysis to identify mouse BACs containing defensin genes. Results from PCR, sequence analysis and hybridization experiments allowed the BACs to be ordered into teo separate contigs. FISH analysis showed that cluster B was telomeric and contained the Defb1 and Defb2 genes while cluster A contained the rest of the genes. Further PCR analysis showed the order of genes to be : Defb4 - Defb6 - Defb5 - Defb3 - Defb8 - Defb7 in cluster A and Defb1 - Defb2 in cluster B.
