Notes
  • Experiment
A whole genome linkage disequilibrium (LD) analysis was used to map mouse lung tumor susceptibility QTL in 25 strains of mice with known susceptibility to lung cancer using 5638 genetic markers. Three highly significant QTL were revealed and as many as 27 minor QTL. [Table 1.]

A novel QTL with statistical significance of p<0.01 mapped to 30 cM with D8Mit205, P=2.20 on mouse Chromosome 8. This locus is named Ltq1, lung tumor QTL 1.

A second and novel QTL, Ltq2, lung tumor QTL 2, mapped to 6.5 cM on mouse Chromosome 4 (D4Mit2). This locus is 5.6 cM from Sluc18 and may represent the same QTL.

A third marker showing highly significant (p<0.01) LD mapped to mouse Chromosome 6, D6Mit26 (74.4 cM) P=2.8. The authors equated this QTL with the previously identified QTL Pas1.

12.16.2015 Curator Note: Because Pas1 was originally mapped in J:3876 in 1993 using an (A/J x C3H/He)F2 intercross, which differs from the 25 strains and the LD mapping strategy used here, we consider the current study a separate mapping experiment and have named this QTL Ltq3, lung tumor QTL 3.
