The authors noted that the structure and organization of mouse Chr 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, and X Tpt1 genes suggest that they are pseudogenes, whereas Chr 14 Tpt1 may represent the functional gene. In addition the sequence predicted from the Chr 14 Tpt1 cDNA is identical to the sequence published by Chitpatima et al in J:30851 except for two nucleotides in the polypyrimidine tract. These genes were located in the mouse genome using the Ensembl database. Further analysis using a mouse contig was informative to show Tpt1 to be located ~ 11 kb from D14Mit116.
