  The authors confirmed by intercrosses using 129S2/SvHsd and C57BL/6J the existance of a modifier of Tgfb1. A modifier locus (Tgfbm2) with a LOD of 10.5 to D1Mit17 was observed. Further ananlysis suggested that a second modifier may reside in mouse Chromosome 17 in the region of D17Mit177.
