    Over 110 (MRL/MpJ-Tnfrsf6lpr/J x CAST/Ei)F1 x MRL/MpJ-Tnfrsf6lpr/J backcross animals were typed at 108 polymorphic loci to identify QTLs associated with nephritis. Parental strain MRL/MpJ-Tnfrsf6lpr/J exhibits severe autoimmune nephritis compared to parental strain CAST/Ei.

    A locus named Lrdm1 mapped to approximately 6 cM on mouse Chromosome 7 between Pou2f2 (2 cM) and Prkcc (6 cM). MRL/MpJ-derived alleles are associated with nephritis at Lrdm1.

    A second locus mapped to approximately 35 cM on mouse Chromosome 12 between D12Nyu3 (27 cM) and D12Sel1 (43 cM). MRL/MpJ-derived alleles are associated with nephritis at Lrdm2.
