    Linkage analysis was performed on 26 BXD (B=C57BL/6J; D=DBA/2J) recombinant inbred (RI) strains to identify QTLs associated with the architecture of hippocampal mossy fiber layers. A panel of 118 polymorphic markers at a resolution of 13 cM was employed.Provisional QTLs mapped to 63.8 cM on mouse Chromosomes 8 (D8Ncvs64-D8Byu5, LOD=2.44), 87.5 cM (D0Ncvs35, LOD=2.51) and 107.3 cM (Fdpsl5, LOD=2.64) on mouse Chromosome 10, and 81.1 cM on mouse Chromosome 19 (D19J1, LOD=2.24). These loci account for approximately 92% of the variation in CA4/MF values. A (DBA/2J x C57BL/6J)F3 cross is being studied to confirm these putative loci.
