    The Pax1Un-s deletion interval was mapped using a BAC contig. The length of the Pax1Un-s deletion is approximately 125 kb long. The 5' breakpoint is 50 kb upstream of exon 1 and the 3' breakpoint is 65 kb downstream of exon5. This region contains a deletion of all exons of Pax1, the last 2 exons of a putative Nkx2-2 antisense gene (authors designate this gene Asnkx2-2), and the last 2 exons of a putative Pax1 antisense gene (authors designate this gene Aspax1). The antisense genes do not appear to contain open reading frames.

    Nkx2-2 was found to be approximately 180 kb upstream of Pax1 and Foxa2 was found to be 672 kb downstream of Pax1.

    New STS markers D2Neu1-7 were used in this study.

    Thus, the order of markers and genes along mouse Chromosome2 are as follows: cent - Nkx2-2 - D2Neu1 - D2Neu2 - D2Neu3 - D2Neu4 - Pax1 - D2Neu5 - D2Neu6 - D2Neu7 - Foxa2 - tel
