  The Crb1^rd8 mutation was mapped using backcross animals from 2 different populations. 339 animals were generated from a (B6.C3Ga-Crb1^rd8 x CAST/EiJ)F1 x B6.C3Ga-Crb1^rd8 backcross and 267 animals were generated from a (B6.FVB-Crb1^rd8 x CAST/EiJ)F1x B6.FVB-Crb1^rd8 backross. The mutation mapped to approximately 73 cM on mouse Chromosome 1 between D1Mit141 and D1Mit538. The interval between these 2 markers was estimated to be about 0.50 cM.
