  A DNA region of approximately 120kb was derived using a mouse VJ/129 BAC library and a 0.9-kb Scarf cDNA probe. Comparison of the genomic and cDNA sequences were informative to show that the BAC clone contained the mouse Scarf (Calm4) gene. Southern blot analysis of the BAC clone aided the authors in the identification of a second gene on the clone with homology to Scarf(Calm5).
