  Helper deficient (HD-/-) mice arose in mixed inbred strains including C57BL/6, BALB/c, C3H, and 129/Sv. HD-/- mice were mated to M.m castaneus and M.m.molossinus with the resulting N1 mice crossed to HD -/-. Mapping results indicate that HD maps between 40-50 cM on mouse Chromosome 3. The results were informative to show that HD results from a mutation in Thpok (Zfp67).
