  The authors used genetically engineered X(paternal)O mice in combinations with X(maternal)O and XX mice to show that Xlr3b was expressed from the female X chromosome. The experiments conducted by the authors were also informative to show that Xlr3b is expressed from sequences on the mouse X chromosome.
