Notes
  • Experiment
Congenic mouse strains within the Idd5.2 (MGI: Idd5b) region of mouse Chromosome 1 were utilized to suggest that solute carrier family 11 (proton-coupled divalent metal ion transporters), member 1 (Slc11a1) is a likely candidate for Idd5.2. Using RNAi (RNA interference) the authors showed that a knockdown of Slc11a1 (allele Nramp1) had a detectable effect on diabetes incidence conferred within the Idd5.2 region.
