  Disease phenotypes associated with Leishmania major infection were mapped in animals from (CcS-16 x BALB/cHeA)F2 and (CcS-20 x BALB/cHeA)F2 intercross populations. CcS-16 and CcS-20 are recombinant congenic (RC) strains derived from STS/A and BALB/cHeA. Animals were infected with Leishmania major after 9 weeks of age and sacrificed 8 weeks post-infection.
  
  F2 hybrids between BALB/c and CcS20/Dem and F2 hybrids between BALB/c and CcS16 were tested for clinical and immunological consequences post infection. They were genotyped with mircosatellite markers covering the STS-derived segments. Linkage analysis of differing pathological and immunological parameters indicated novel loci and novel functions for previously mapped loci.
  
  In the (BALB/c x CcS16)F2 intercross a QTL linked with D11Mit139 was identified as Lmr15
  
  03.29.2016 Curator Note: Lmr15 was originally mapped in J:82716 using the same mapping population used in the current study. However the original Lmr15 QTL mapped between 31 and 47 cM on Chr 11 and measured a different phenotype than was analyzed in the current study. We have named the QTL identified here as Lmr31.
  
  Lmr31 is linked with marker D11Mit139 at 23 cM on Chr 11. The STS/A allele at Lmr31 determines low level of IFN gamma in serum, p=0.0161 post infection. This QTL accounts for 10.83% of trait variance. [Table 3.]
