    Linkage analysis was performed on 6 male animals from each of 26 BXD (B=C57BL/6J; D=DBA/2J) recombinant inbred (RI) strains to detect QTL involved in transcript abundance of neurotensin genes (Nts, Ntsr1, Ntsr2, and Ntsr3) in the hypothalamus. *Note: No gene record for Ntsr3 exists in MGD*

    Significant linkage to Nts transcript abundance mapped to 15 cM on mouse Chromosome 1 near D1Mit169 and D1Mit211 (LRS=20.6). This locus is named Ntta1 (neurotensin transcript abundance 1). The 95% confidence interval spans approximately 20 cM. Ntta1 also shows suggestive linkage to Ntsr3 transcript abundance (LRS=11.3 at D1Mit372). Previously identified QTL mapping near Ntta1 include Alcp4 (8.3 cM), Alcp25 (8.4 cM), Morph1 (9 cM), Cocia4 (15 cM), Adip1 (11 cM), Obq2 (15 cM), and Cplaq4 (15.6 cM).

    Significant linkage to Nts and Ntsr2 transcript abundance mapped to 14 cM and 18 cM on mouse Chromosome 12 near D12Mit63 *this marker has been reassigned to chr1 as D1Mit1008* (LRS=21.8) and D12Mit222 (LRS=29.9), respectively. This locus is named Ntta2 (neurotensin transcript abundance 2). The 95% confidence interval for Nts transcript abundance spans 18 cM. The 95% confidence interval for Ntsr2 transcript abundance spans 13 cM. Ntta2 also shows suggestive linkage to Ntsr1 transcript abundance (LRS=11.8) and Ntsr3 transcript abundance (LRS=11.2).

    When marker regression analysis is performed while controlling for Ntta2, highly significant linkage to Nts transcript abundance is detected between 26 cM and 35 cM on mouse Chromosome 9 between D9Mit191 and D9Mit104 (LRS=24.6). This locus is named Ntta3 (neurotensin transcript abundance 3). Previously identified QTLs mapping near Ntta3 include Drd2 (28 cM), Hts (28 cM), Cocrb8 (29 cM), Etohc3 (29 cM), Hpic1 (48 cM), Afw4 (29 cM),Bwnd2wk6 (27 cM), Bwnd6wk4 (28 cM), Bwnd5wk5 (30 cM), and Actd4 (28 cM). Suggestive linkage to Ntsr2 transcript abundance mapped to 41 cM on mouse Chromosome 2 near D2Mit56 (LRS=16.7).

    Suggestive linkage to Ntsr1 transcript abundance mapped to 7 cM - 15 cM on mouse Chromosome X (LRS=14). Suggestive linkageto Nts transcript abundance mapped to 22 cM on mouse Chromosome 3 (LRS=15). Suggestive linkage to Ntsr1 transcript abundance mapped to 2.4 cM on mouse Chromosome 3 (LRS=11.8). Suggestive linkage to Nts transcript abundance (LRS=11.8) and Ntsr3 transcriptabundance (LRS=12.5) mapped to 1 cM on mouse Chromosome 7. Suggestive linkage to Nts transcript abundance mapped to 59 cM on mouse Chromosome 8 (LRS=12.8).
