  Mutants with regions of the long arm of the Y chromosome deleted were informative to identfy testis specific transcripts. The mutants were XYRIIIqdel, XY^TdmsqdelSry and XSxr^aY. A region of the Y chromosome identified as Asty encoded testis speific transcipts. The homologus region on the X was identified as Astx.
