  The authors attempted to map tint by outcrossing tint/Art mice to spretus or castaneous and then crossing the hybrid mice to the mice carriying various deletion at the Brachyury locus. The offspring were then tested for the presence of tint. Tint was found to map between D6Mit306 (81.1 Mb) and D6Mit40 (88.1 Mb). Noto, mapping within this region was eliminated as a candidate for tint.
