  The Swl mutation arose on X-irradiated (C3H/HeH X 101/H)F1 mice. Crosses using mutant Swl/+ with C57BL/6J proved informative in mapping the mutant to a region of mouse Chromosome 12 bounded by D12Mit123 and D12Mit20. Further analysis showed that the Swl phenotype is the result of a 9 bp deletion in Dync1h1.
