Notes
  • Experiment
Nagoya-Shibata-Yasuda (NSY) mice, an animal model for diabetes, were mated with C3H/He
For QTL mapping 302 F2 informative mice were produced by crossing male NSY mice with female C3H/He mice.
The phenotypes assessed were body weight, blood glucose levels, and the livers were inspected to assess the degree of fatty liver. For QTL mapping a total of 109 microsatellite markers were used to cover the
whole mouse genome . QTL analysis was performed using Map Manager QTXb20.
LOD values for significant or suggestive linkage were presented.
Bw1n a QTL for body weight mapped to mouse Chromosome 7 between D7Mit81 and D7Mit238 with a peak LOD of approximately 5.1 at D7Mit61. The peak was broad. Suggestive linkage to body weight was also found in mouse Chromosomes 10 and 15.
Fl1n a QTL for fatty liver was found in mouse Chromosome 6 between D6Mit223 and D6Mit135, a peak for Flln with an associated LOD of 10 was found at D6Mit54.
Genomic evidence was presented suggesting Pparg as a candidate gene underlying the Flln phenothpe.
