    Somatic cell hybrids were from fusion of Chinese hamster and mouse cells. EcoRI cleaved DNA from the hybrids was probed for mouse Insr using human cDNA probe phINSR 14-1. The assignment of Insr to Chromosome 8 was confirmed by the analysis of 4 rat x mouse microcell hybrids. Microcell hybrid F(8.14)Q carried a mouse Robertsonian chromosome composed of Chromosomes 8 and 14 and was positive for Insr. Hybrid F(8)D contained only Chromosome 8, and was positive for Insr. Hybrid FB(8)D and F(11)G, which lackedChromosome 8, also lacked the Insr gene.
