A potential locus controlling a hotspot of recombination between 183.5 and 191.5 Mb of mouse Chromosome 1 was investigated by the authors . Recombination hotspots within this region including the loci Essrg1, Essrg2, Hlx1 and Kcnk2 and were identified in crosses involving CAST/Ei and C57BL/6J. Mapping results showed a QTL locus named Rcr1 in mouse Chromosome 17 as effecting hotspot activity. Rcr1 mapped with significant LOD scores to a 5-25 Mb region bounded by D17Mit113 and D17Mit46. More specifically Rcr1 could be mapped to a 5.3 Mb region between D17Mit113 (v36 assembly 11.74 Mb) and SNP NES12247255 (v36 assembly 17.04
