  Deletions on Chromosome 7 at the albino locus were tested for the expression of Tyr by Southern blot analysis using probe PTY-2. The albino deletions c^14Cos and c^6H were only viable in the heterozygous form. Mice of genotype c^14Cos/c^6H and c^3H/c^3H were missing the Tyr sequences. Thus the albino deletions segregated concordantly with Tyr, indicating that the locus for Tyr maps at or near the albino locus on Chromosome 7.
