  Somatic cell hybrids were from fusion of Chinese hamster cell line E36 with cells from BALB/c, NFS or A/J mice. EcoRI digested DNA was probed on Southern blots for Il-3 using cDNA clone pIL3. Mouse chromosome complement was determined by karyotypic analysis. Chromosome 11 was not present in any of the somatic cell hybrids and neither was mouse Il-3 suggesting that Il-3 is located on Chromosome 11.
