  Tg6208 is an insertional transgene at the Sl locus.
• Experiment
  The transgenic stock Tg6208 is shown to carry an insertional mutation, Sl^tg at the steel locus as follows. The transgene was tested for complementation with Sl in a Tg/+ x C57BL/6J-Sl/+ cross. 16 Tg/+ (dilute color), 14 Sl/+ (dilute color) and 16 +/+ offspring were produced. This is as predicted if Tg6208 is an allele of Sl (note that the Sl^tg/Sl offspring class is predicted to be lethal and does not appear among the offspring).
