  Hoxa3 was localized proximally on Chromosome 6 as follows. Hybridization of a Hoxa3 probe (pMo-10) was negative in somatic cell hybrids CEC and IF-21 that contained distal Chromosome 6 (B1/B2 to telomere) and positive in hybrid MFE that contained proximal Chromosome 6 (centromere to C2/C3). All three of these hybrids were positive for an Igk probe indicating Hoxa is proximal to Igk.
