  From a total of 725 progeny from a heteroallelic cross (shi/mld) there were no recombinations observed between shi and mld (shi^mld) providing evidence that shi and mld are allelic. Further, a deletion in the Mbp gene is representative of a genetic lesion in shi; implicating that shi^mld is within 0.3 cM of Mbp on distal Chromosome 18.
