  Somatic cell hybrids were from fusion of mouse fibroblasts with Chinese hamster cells or rat hepatoma cells. Only the two hybrid cell lines ABM-30 and ABM-31 were positive for Ldh-3. These lines contained mouse Chromosomes 2 and 7. Confirmation of Ldh-3 assignment to Chromosome 7 (and not 2) was obtained using hybrid F(2.8)D which carries mouse Chromosomes 2 and 8 as a Robertsonian translocation. F(2.8)D was negative for Ldh-3 demonstrating that this gene is not located on Chromosome 2.
